Lauren Watral, Raleigh Geriatric Care Management

Care Management services are provided by Lauren Watral, who graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1981 and earned her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) in 1985 from the University of South Carolina. While beginning her professional career in social work in 1986, Lauren progressed into various positions encompassing mental health, substance abuse counseling, and older adult care programming. She joined a geriatric care management company in 2003 and was instrumental in the design of services, training of care managers, and client management. She is the founder of Raleigh Geriatric Care Management which opened in 2009.  Lauren also serves on the Board of Directors for Guiding Lights Caregiver Support Center and is a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers.  She writes a monthly column for Outreach NC Magazine, conducts and facilitates an Adult Children of Aging Parents Support Group, and has volunteered in the Pet Therapy program at Cary Wake Medical Center and has delivered Meals on Wheels for the homebound elderly in Raleigh.  She is published in Matt Gurwell’s book, Beyond Driving With Dignity, the Workbook for the Families of Older Drivers, published in 2010.
